Actor's Express takes on Father Comes Home From the Wars (Parts 1, 2 and 3), an acclaimed trilogy by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks (Topdog/Underdog) and one of the most celebrated American plays of the past decade. Father won off-Broadway’s 2015 Obie Award for playwriting and was a Pulitzer Prize finalist. The plot updates Homer’s The Odyssey
to the American Civil War, mixing history, hip-hop and contemporary
language, in telling the story of a slave named Hero, who's offered his
freedom if he’ll fight for the Confederacy.
